Bear-Resistant Trash Barrel Program to Expand

Published: Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

The City of Monrovia, working in conjunction with Athens Services, has expanded its pilot Bear-Resistant Trash Barrel program for foothill residents who are experiencing bears breaking into their trash cans.

Monrovia’s Environmental Services staff is accepting applications for participation in the program. Residents should call (626) 932-5553 or 932-5556  to participate or to receive more information.

A sample of the new bear-resistant barrel is currently on display in the lobby of City Hall, 415 S. Ivy Avenue.
