The annual pancake breakfast drew hundreds to the newly remodeled station 101 in Monrovia. In addition to treats such as hot cakes, sausages and all the trimmings you’d expect, firefighters in Monrovia demonstrated how they use of the Jaws of Life in an emergency situation such as a traffic collision. One supporter of the fire dept. also let his feelings be known on the Monrovia Police issue facing the city. However, the biggest even for most kids was the Junior Firefighter Academy where young boys and girls got a chance to put out “fires” using actual hoses and wore mini turnouts just like their heroes. 29-month-old Noah Gutierrez really enjoyed his experience as a junior firefighter when he got a chance to use an axe.
