On Tuesday, February 26 Frank F. Forbes, Vice President of the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District presented a check in the amount of $8,050 to the South Pasadena High School Booster Club for their participation and assistance in the Upper District’s High Efficiency Toilet Program.
The Upper District’s High Efficiency Toilet Program allows eligible residents of the Upper District to exchange their old inefficient toilets for water conserving toilets. With the help of the South Pasadena High School Booster Club, over 800 water conserving toilets were distributed, which will save over 223 million gallons of drinking water in the Upper District’s service area. “We appreciate the assistance of the students and parents of South Pasadena High School in this important project,” explained Vice President Frank F. Forbes. “This successful program helps demonstrate the environmental and economic benefits water conservation offers to our community.”
The South Pasadena High School Booster Club is an organization of parents, friends and fans that support and work to enhance all of South Pasadena High School’s athletic programs.
The Upper District provides wholesale water service to 17 cities and 22 retail water utilities in the San Gabriel Valley. Nearly one million people live and work in the Upper District’s 144 square mile service area. Annually, demand for treated, untreated and recycled water in the Upper District service area averages more than 78 billion gallons.
